No, I don't need psychiatric treatment, thank you very much. This is a fragment of a song by La Roux - I am not your toy (duh). La Roux, despite her controversial dress style is an amazing singer. I listened to a few of her songs live on YouTube and I was surprised, her voice is very good for someone who is a Pop Electronica singer and whose songs are actually less popular than the remixes.
I stumbled across an interesting resource called Mixcloud which allows people to put out their mixes for others to listen. I think it is an awesome idea and I hope more and more DJs will join in and put out their work there. Definitely a place to go if you are into electronic music.
Another service which is becoming increasingly popular is Spotify. I will say this: Spotify is an amazing idea. It is an on-demand player, it has a huge database of music which is all free to listen. The cool thing about Spotify - it is legal. Yes, you heard it right. Although, you can't play the music in another player or copy it to your iPod, it is still good enough for people who usually listen to music through a PC. Of course, most people want a way to listen to music through an audio system or their player. Hopefully, Spotify will develop to something more general in the future, you can already get an Android or iPhone app and listen to Spotify on the move. There are some obvious drawbacks of the service, unfortunately. First of all, it isn't available in all countries due to legal issues. Also, it's database is also lacking in music from other countries and some of the less popular genres which is a shame. However, these drawbacks aren't necessary terminal, perhaps with time we will see Spotify developing into something global, is this how music industry decided to respond to the eternal problem of digital piracy? If so, for a change, I like their style.
